How to Make a Headphone Stand at Home - Guide
To make a custom headphone stand at home is a tedious job. Specially if you are thinking to make a wooden headset holder then it will be hard to craft the wood by hand. However, this guide is about making a hand crafted stand at home.
Requirements
- Timber
- Cutting Machine
- Cable Holder
Let's look at each of them.
1. Timber Selection
Take approximately 25 cm tall, 16 cm wide and 10 cm thick rectangular wooden block. You can increase the thickness if you want by gluing more pieces of wood. Moreover, you can glue pieces of plywood for a more professional look. Please make sure that the front and back sides of the wooden pieces are parallel.
2. Wood Cutting
Make a sketch of the curved sides of the stand on a paper. After doing so, glue it on the wood and then take it to the jigsaw and cut the wood to make a curved sides and a wide base of the stand. The wide base of the stand will ensure a nice display of it on the desk.
3. Sanding of wood
To make the curves neat and remove the saw cuts you are required to have a disc sander if you don't have a mechanical sander then the hand sander will also work. This part of the entire process is very complicated as it will give a smooth look to the wooden stand.
4. Finishing
This is the last step. To give a shiny look to the stand coat the stand in your desired finish. You can use polyurethane spray or just wipe on. Attach the cable holder too if you want your cable organized.
Now, your headphone stand is ready to give your headphones a respectable place. Place it on your table and it's ready to go. If you don't want to do this job or you don't have enough spare time then you can go for a nice headset holder.
